A website to buy and sell Madden Ultimate Team coins. When I was a freshman in high school, I turned a hobby into a venture when I noticed that I could use a system of arbitrage to buy and resell Madden coins and make a profit. Started with asking my dad for $20, and turned into a massive venture that I eventually sold.
View WebsiteA 501(c)(3) to close the knowledge gap in my community. When I was studying for the SAT and applying to colleges, I noticed a serious knowledge gap among my county’s students. From this, I took the initiative to start a not-for-profit organization to help solve this problem. I began by going after school to every school in my county to pitch this idea, and by the time of graduation, we expanded to 5 schools, had 12 tutors, and an established curriculum to prepare young students for the Florida Standards Assessment.
View OrgPlaced 2nd overall in a global competition sponsored by NASA. I joined the club at my school in its second year, and became co-captain two weeks later. We qualified in the regional stage by registering the 2nd highest score in our region on a test about all things space related. So, we knew we had 4 months to prepare for the finals at Kennedy Space Center. There were four aspects of the competition: an hour long engineering exam, a space shuttle simulator gauntlet, a landing challenge, and a research paper/lab proposal to solve the pressing issue of space debris. We scored 1st place overall in the research and simulator challenges, leading us to place 2nd place overall. A few months later, now at Vanderbilt, I received a call from someone at NASA to ask for permission to proceed forward with our proposed solution to space debris.
View ArticleI conducted a study for a local healthcare company to prove the functionality of their new whitenoise device. I collected sleep data of 20 subjects using Fitbit’s database, Fitabase. After this, I cleaned the data and ran several tests of statistical significance on different metrics to figure out how the product can improve our customer’s lives. I eventually compiled a list of my findings, and presented my findings to the CEO of the company. I received rave reviews from him, and he eventually used my data to revitalize the company’s sales and marketing platform.
View StudyI did a pro bono consulting project for SiriusXM’s Nashville office. In HOD 2100, our semester project was to conduct a pro bono consulting project with a firm in Nashville. Luckily, SiriusXM agreed to let us do our project there. We conducted an environmental scan of their market landscape, internal processes, and external competition. After that, we conducted several site visits and interviews, even getting to interview company legend Buzz Brainard. To wrap up the semester, we wrote a 55 page organizational report including our environmental scan, observations, and a set of recommendations. We presented these findings to the company and received rave reviews.
View Presentation View ReportI worked as a project management intern for a South Florida based startup company, NextChoice Advisors. Due to the company only having 10 employees, this gave me a great (and kinda scary) amount of responsibility and autonomy over my work. I learned the ins and outs of project management, and also how to effectively communicate with clients. One of my main accomplishments, detailed a bit more below, was leading the launch of OnePlant’s eCommerce platform, which is the epicenter of their booming business, having generated over $2.5M in sales to date.
“Last July, while we were dialing in the grow, we launched [a] ... statewide home delivery network that’s all e-commerce-enabled.” - OnePlant and Bluma Wellness CEO, Brady CobbView Article
This summer, I returned to NCA in an even more autonomous role, product management. They invited me back to have a more important role in the company, leading the launch of their new product, Alleaves. Alleaves is a seed to sale tracking software specifically designed for vertically integrated cannabis vendors in Florida. It is hard to put into words just how much I learned from this experience. I learned so much about leadership by having to be an influential voice without any formal power. I learned so much about communication, by having to be a voice that connects different cross-functional teams. I contributed in every step of the product, from market research to creating our pitch deck.
